Digital Printing – Vibrant, Detailed, and Flexible

Experience the next level of garment customization with our cutting-edge Brother GTX Pro digital printers. We operate multiple advanced GTX Pro machines, ensuring precision, speed, and reliability in every print.

Digital Printing (DTG)

is a modern method of garment decoration that works much like an inkjet printer – but for clothing. Your design is printed directly onto the fabric, producing sharp, detailed results with vibrant colours.

DTG is ideal for small & large runs and for artwork that’s too detailed or complex for traditional screen printing.

Minimum Order:

1 garment

Turnaround Time:

Around 10 to 14 working days

Maximum Print Area:

35 × 40 cm

How Digital Printing Works

Digital / DTG (Direct to Garment) printing is a modern technique for decorating textiles. The process takes a digital design file and applies it directly onto the fabric, line by line, using advanced print heads. Think of it as similar to printing on paper at home, but with specialised equipment and much larger ink cartridges designed for garments.

Artwork Preparation

Unlike screen printing, DTG (Direct to Garment) printing doesn’t require colour separations. As long as your artwork is supplied in a high enough resolution to capture the details, it’s ready to print. We’ll just convert your design into a format that our printer can process.

Pre-treatment of Fabric

To achieve the best possible results with digital printing, garments need to be pre-treated before printing. This process cleans and prepares the fabric, ensuring the inks bond properly and colours remain vibrant.

After pre-treatment, each garment is heat-pressed to set the coating and create a smooth surface. Once this step is complete, the garment is ready for printing.

Underbase for Coloured Shirts

When printing onto coloured or dark garments, a layer of white ink is first applied as an underbase. Your design is then printed on top of this layer, ensuring the colours remain vibrant and true to the artwork. The underbase isn’t visible on the finished garment – it simply helps the design stand out.

Because the underbase uses more ink and adds to production costs, printing on white garments is usually the most economical option.

DTG Pricing

We usually recommend organic t-shirts for DTG printing (see more details further down this page). Not only are they more environmentally friendly, but they also provide superior print quality. Below, you’ll find our basic pricing for digital printing services.

DTG Printing vs Screen Printing

Both of these methods produce high-quality results, but they serve different purposes. Screen printing is a traditional process that’s been perfected over decades. It shines when producing large volumes, as once the setup is done, printing is fast and efficient. However, that setup makes it less practical for very small orders.

That’s where DTG printing comes in. With almost no setup required, it’s cost-effective even for a single garment.

To help you choose, here’s a breakdown of the two approaches:

DTG Printing

Process: Garments are loaded into a digital inkjet printer, where the design is built up with CMYK inks—similar to how a paper printer works.

  • Minimal setup / low minimum order

  • Unlimited colours at no extra charge

  • Flexible for one-off or short runs

  • More difficult to achieve exact Pantone matches

  • Requires more curing time and uses more ink

  • Slower per print compared to screen printing

  • Modern, evolving technology in textile decoration

Screen Printing

Process: Ink is pressed through mesh screens, one per colour, with inks carefully mixed by hand.

  • Best suited for bulk orders

  • Crisp, accurate spot colours

  • Pantone matching available

  • Wide choice of garments supported

  • More eco-friendly than DTG

  • Highly durable and washfast

  • Soft, breathable finish

  • Setup is time-consuming, and multi-colour jobs cost more to prepare

With over 40 years’ experience, this remains our preferred and most versatile method.
