Benefits of Embroidery

Low Minimum Orders

Embroidery is ideal for smaller runs, with setup allowing you to start from as few as 10 items. Thread colour changes are quick, and our multi-head machines are equally capable of producing larger volumes as your needs grow.

Durability You Can Rely On

Because the design is stitched directly into the fabric, embroidery offers a long-lasting finish that withstands frequent wear and washing. This makes it especially well-suited for workwear, uniforms, bags, and rucksacks where durability is essential.

Premium Look & Feel

Embroidery adds a textured, high-quality finish that elevates the appearance of your garments. The raised stitching gives designs a professional and timeless look, making it a popular choice for brands that want to stand out with a polished, long-lasting impression.

First Stitch Approval

For just the cost of postage (£3.95), we can send you the very first stitch-out from your order. This lets you confirm you’re happy with the quality and appearance before we continue with the rest. We especially recommend this option for new customers.

The first stitch-out comes directly from your total order quantity and will act as the reference point for quality control throughout production.

Please note: full payment for the order is still required before we create and ship your first stitch sample.

Digitising Your Artwork for Embroidery

We take your design and convert it into a precise embroidery file, ensuring a professional finish that captures the detail and character of your artwork.

What is Digitising?

Before any embroidery can take place, your artwork must be digitised — this is the process of converting your design into a stitch file that embroidery machines can read. Digitising ensures your artwork is translated accurately into thread.

Digitising is charged as a one-time fee of £15 (excl. VAT) per design. Once created, it can be reused for future orders. The digitising process is completed within 24 hours and approved before your main order goes into production.

What is Stitch Count?

Stitch count is the number of stitches required to reproduce your design on a garment. It depends on both the size and complexity of your artwork, and it directly affects the cost per item.

Smaller, simpler logos require fewer stitches, while larger or highly detailed designs naturally involve more.

We’ll always provide you with an estimated stitch count and quote before production begins, so you know exactly what to expect.

Sustainable Threads

Our embroidery uses eco-friendly threads designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising on quality. These threads can be made from recycled fibres, organic cotton, or plant-based materials like bamboo or linen. Some options are even biodegradable, helping to further minimise their footprint.

Madeira Rayon Threads

We primarily use Madeira Rayon, a premium thread produced from natural materials. Madeira is recognised worldwide for its high-quality embroidery threads. Their rayon range offers a durable, sustainable option — though it’s worth noting that not all dyes used are vegan.

Wide Colour Range

Madeira provides a palette of over 400 thread colours. Many shades can be closely matched to Pantone references, though an exact match to printed designs isn’t always guaranteed.

Choosing the Right Thread Colours

To help you achieve the best colour results for your project, we offer several options:

  • We can closely match colours to the artwork you supply.

  • You can provide Pantone references for us to match as closely as possible.

  • You can request a Madeira Shade Card, which shows all available colours so you can select with confidence before production begins.

This ensures your embroidery not only looks great but also aligns with your brand’s sustainability goals.

How Embroidery Works

Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric by stitching designs directly into the material with needle and thread.

The process begins with digitising your artwork, converting it into a stitch file that embroidery machines can read. Each garment is then placed securely in a hoop or frame, which keeps the fabric taut while the machine stitches. Garments are loaded individually by hand to ensure accuracy.

Using different stitch types, densities, and thread styles, embroidery can produce a wide range of textures and visual effects. From adding a personal touch to clothing, to creating branded apparel for businesses, embroidery remains one of the most versatile and durable decoration methods available.
